KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan first military woman general and the country’s former public health minister Suhaila Sediq passed away at the age of 72 from disease she was suffering, a statement said on Friday.

Dr. Suhaila Sediq breathed her last on Friday at the Sardar Mohammad Dawod Khan Hospital (SMDH), the Ministry of Public Health said in a statement.

Mrs. Sediq was a strong administrator and she served the country’s health sector for 40 years.

Assistant services secretary of the Health Ministry on his facebook page acknowledged the death of Dr. Suhaila and termed her a renowned face for Afghanistan’s health sector and to the field of medicine.

She served as the country’s Health Minister from 2001 to 2004. She also served in the Sardar Mohammad Dawod Khan Hospital for a long time.
