PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan plans to construct a rail link with neighbouring Afghanistan, says a cabinet minister
A track will be laid between the Chaman district of Balochistan and the Spin Boldak town of Kandahar, the railway minister told reporters in Quetta.
Sheikh Rashid Ahmed announced Pakistan would lay an 11km-long railway track from Chaman to Spin Boldak in the first phase.
A survey had been completed in this regard and preparation for PC-1 of the project was ongoing, the federal minister added.
Once built, the railway track could be extended to Kandahar if the Afghan government expressed its willingness, Rashid continued.
Linking Chaman with Spin Boldak through the proposed railroad would boost trade between the two neighbours, he hoped.
