MoPH reports 260 new Covid-19 cases, 10 deaths

KABUL Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Saturday said 260 new positive Covid-19 cases were detected during the last 24 hours that saw 10 people losing battle for life to the infection.

The ministry said 1,495 people underwent tests during the past 24 hours and the virus was detected in 260 people, pushing the total number of cases in the country to 47,901.

Of the fresh cases, 63 were recorded in Kabul, 60 in Khost, 48 in Takhar, 32 in Herat, 19 in Nangarhar, nine in Baghlan, six each in Kandahar, Logar, Maidan Wardak and Nuristan, four in Daikundi and one in Laghman.

At least 297 individuals were recovered from the pandemic during the past 24 hours, taking the recoveries to 37,782.

The ministry said that 10 people lost their lives to the virus during the period and the total tally of deaths reached 1,875.

The ministry has announced that the second wave of the pandemic has begun in the country and people should follow the virus preventive guidelines.
