KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): A car bomb attack targeted security forces engaged in an ongoing operation the Zheri district of southern Kandahar province on Monday, but caused no casualties.
The explosives-laden Humvee vehicle was exploded against security personnel who were busy conducting an operation in Pashmol locality, said police spokesperson Nasir Jamal.
He said the vehicle was exploded before it could reach its target which was security forces and thus caused no casualties.
But a security source in the district said one commando officer was killed in the blast.
Fighting has been underway in Zheri district over the past one month and security forces have been conducting a military operation there.
It was the second such attack in Kandahar province within hours. Earlier, a car-bombing struck district police headquarters in Daman district, injuring 33 security personnel including the district police chief.
