Kabul (Pajhwok): The Attorney General Office (AGO) on Monday said it registered and addressed nearly 28,000 criminal cases during the first three quarters of the on-going year, with most cases occurring in Kabul.
Attorney General’s Office spokesman JamshidRasouli told a news conference in Kabul that a total of 27,872 criminal cases were registered during the period including 1650 murder, 336 kidnapping, 4305 narcotics smuggling, 3087 theft, 2088 violence against women, 1366 causing injury, 1165 beating, 2329 military offenses, 377 moral crimes and 2329 miscellaneous crimes.
Rasouli added that most of these cases (5464 cases) were filed in Kabul followed by Nangarhar (2456 cases) and Kandahar (1819 cases).
During this time span, he said 8.5 tons of poppy, 12 tons of hash and 47 kg of “K” tablet were captured.
While people are concerned about increasing criminal activities, Rasouli said a considerable decrease in crimes would be achieved through increased coordination among detective and security organs.
