KABUL Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Tuesday said 213 new positive Covid-19 cases were detected in the past 24 hours in the country.
The ministry said 1401 people underwent tests during the past 24 hours and the virus was detected in 213 people, pushing the overall tally to 48,753.
According to the statement, 34 cases were detected in Kabul, 30 in Herat, 22 in Baghlan, 21 in Kapisa, 16 in Parwan, 14 in Balkh, 12 in Logar, 11 in Nimroz, 10 in Paktia, 5 in Kandahar , 4 in Nangharhar, 2 in Zabul, 7 each in Bamyan, Laghman, 8 each in Helmand, Kunar, one each in Ghor, Uruzgan and Daikundi provinces.
At least 71 individuals were recovered from the pandemic during the past 24 hours, taking the recoveries to 38,221.
The ministry said that 18 people lost their lives to the virus during the period and the total deaths reached 1,939.
The ministry has announced that the second wave of the pandemic has begun in the country and people should follow the virus preventive guidelines.
