FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): Two persons have been arrested over smuggling about eight kilograms of heroin in northeastern Badakhshan province, where a police official died of extreme cold after being trapped in snow.
Police spokesman Sanaullah Rohani told Pajhwok Afghan News that police guard of a lapis lazuli mine, Ahmad Samad, a resident of Jurm district died from severe cold weather on Saturday night.
He said Samad had traveled to Panjshir province from Karan wa Menjan district but he was trapped in snow and died of extreme cold at Payin Kotal valley.
Rohani also said two people had been arrested over smuggling about eight kilograms of heroin.
He said anti-narcotics police during an operation seized 7.99 kilograms of heroin which had been skillfully hidden in a corolla car.
