KABUL Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Sunday said 321 new positive Covid-19 cases were detected in the past 24 hours in the country.
The ministry said 1,655 people underwent tests during the past 24 hours and the virus was detected in 321 people, pushing the overall tally to 49,273.
According to the statement, 57 cases were recorded in Kabul, 39 in Kapisa, 36 in Balkh, 34 in Baghlan, 28 in Herat, 20 in Kandahar, 14 in Nangarhar, 12 in Parwan, 12 in Ghazni, nine in Zabul, eight in Takhar, seven in Maidan Wardak, six in Helmand, five each in Paktia, Nimroz and Daikundi, three each in Logar, Uruzgan, Faryab and Laghman and one each in Nuristan and Kunar provinces.
At least 56 individuals were recovered from the pandemic during the past 24 hours, taking the recoveries to 38,384.
The ministry said that 11 people lost their lives to the virus during the period and the total deaths reached 1,971.
The ministry has announced that the second wave of the pandemic has begun in the country and people should follow the virus preventive guidelines.
