KABUL (Pajhwok): US and NATO Forces Commander in Afghanistan Gen. Scott Miller on Sunday vowed support to Afghan security forces.
Addressing reporters, Gen. Miller said US working on strategy to reduce the number of its troops to 2,500 in Afghanistan.
In line with Doha Agreement between the US and the Taliban the number of US troops in Afghanistan would be reduced to 2500 by January next year.
He, however, said NATO and the US would continue its train, advice and support mission of Afghan security forces to improve the capacity of Afghan security forces.
He said when there is surge in violence the people of Afghanistan pay a heavy price, adding that efforts were on to bring the level of violence to zero.
Gen. Miller said an opportunity for peace was available which should be exploited in better manner.
He reaffirmed the pull out of US forces from Afghanistan was condition-based and asked the Taliban to honor the Doha agreement.
