KABUL (Pajhwok): The United States has reported 3,700 Covid-19 deaths and more than 240,000 new infections, setting two grim records.

CNN reported on Wednesday the number of people in hospitals was at a high for the 11th consecutive day, with the pandemic showing no signs of being controlled.

On the positive side, more people were vaccinated amid report that more doses of the vaccine could be derived from one vial than initially estimated.

Also on Wednesday, the US created another hospitalisation record — 113,069 patients nationwide. For the third time in the past week, the United States has crossed the 3,000 deaths threshold.

President-elect Joe Biden is expected to get coronavirus vaccine next week, says transition official. Vice President Mike Pence will be vaccinated on Friday in a public event.
