KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 15 civilians were killed and 20 others wounded in a massive bomb explosion in southern Ghazni province, on Friday, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said.
The powerful blast resulted from explosives attacked to a motorbike that was parked near a house in the Agho Jan village of Gilan district, the ministry’s spokesman said.
Tariq Arian added a group of locals had gathered in the house to attend a Khatmul Quran ceremony, Arian said. However, the official stopped short of giving details.
A resident of the area, Inayatullah, told Pajhwok Afghan News the powerful blast was triggered by unexploded ordnance.
Children took the warhead to a rickshaw driver for sale, the inhabitant said. As more children gathered, the ordnance exploded with a big bang.
