PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The negotiations in Doha offer Afghan leaders a historic opportunity to bring lasting stability to their country, the Pakistani prime minister said on Friday.
However, Imran Khan voiced his grave concern over the high level of violence in the neighbouring country and called for all sides to control the violence and thereby pave the ground for a ceasefire.
At a meeting with a Taliban delegation in Islamabad, Khan hoped that return of stability to Afghanistan would spur economic development and regional integration.
The premier said he was optimistic of the Afghan parties continuing to build on recent positive developments in intra-Afghan negotiations in Doha.
He underscored Pakistan’s consistent support for an inclusive, broad-based and comprehensive political settlement in Afghanistan.
He stressed the need for being vigilant about the role of spoilers, who continued to make efforts to derail the Afghan peace process.
