GARDEZ (Pajhwok): Security officials say three civilians, including a woman, have been killed by unidentified gunmen in the Mahlan area of Gardez, the capital of southeastern Paktia province.
Police spokesman Hayatullah Nizami told Pajhwok Afghan News on Sunday unidentified gunmen opened fire on the trio travelling in a vehicle.
Nizami said the motive behind the shooting was yet to be ascertained. But most probably, he believed, it was an honour-driven attack.
The police spokesman added the identities and addresses of the victims were yet to be known.
Pajhwok has, meanwhile, obtained a picture that reads: “Those who abduct married women will meet the same fate.”
Police say the victims’ bodies were moved to the Paktia-Zonal Hospital. Local residents have not yet commented on the triple murder.
