JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The Provincial Council head for eastern Nangarhar province on Sunday criticized Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s remarks that the Taliban were not solely responsible for escalation of violence in Afghanistan.
During a Taliban delegation’s visit to Islamabad, Qureshi had said the Taliban alone should not be blamed for the increased violence in Afghanistan as the Afghan government had also a role in this regard.
Reacting to his remarks, Nangarhar PC chairman Ahmad Ali Hazrat said instead of speaking for the Taliban, Qureshi as the foreign minister of Pakistan, should work to address the tense relations between the two countries and prove good neighborhood.
The public representative alleged the Taliban had intensified their attacks on the directives of the Pakistani military and intelligence.
He said the Taliban had increased their attacks from Nangarhar to Helmand, Baghlan, Kunduz and Ghazni and bomb attacks in big cities including Kabul while the Afghan forces remained in defensive posture.
