MoPH reports 201 Covid-19 cases, 16 deaths in 24 hours

KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 201 new positive cases of COVID-19 and 16 deaths from the infection have been recorded across the country in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Public Health said on Tuesday.

The ministry said 1,636 people underwent tests during the past 24 hours and the virus was detected in 201 people, pushing the overall tally to 51,089.

Of the fresh cases, 48 were recorded in Kabul, 47 in Herat, 25 in Parwan, 23 in Kandahar, 16 in Bamyan, 10 in Takhar, eight in Nangarhar, seven in Laghman, six in Panjsher, four in Kunar, two each in Logar, Badakhshan, Uruzgan and Daikundi provinces.

At least 83 individuals were recovered from the pandemic during the past 24 hours, taking the recoveries to 39,784.

The ministry said that 16 people lost their lives to the virus during the period and the total deaths reached 2,105.

The ministry has announced that the second wave of the pandemic has begun in the country and people should follow the virus preventive guidelines.
