KABUL (Pajhwok): First vice-president Amarullah Saleh on Sunday said no foreign national had been arrested during yesterday’s security forces operation in Khairkhana area of Kabul.
On Saturday, Ministry of Interior spokesman Tariq Aryun said a targeted operation was carried out in Khairkhana area.
Residents of the area said security forces conducted raids in various parts of Khairkhana locality and locals were not allowed to come out of their homes.
There were also rumors and reports yesterday that Chinese nationals were arrested during yesterday’s operations.
However, VP Saleh today rejected any foreign national had been arrested. During his morning time meeting, Saleh said a number of people involved in targeted attacks and kidnappings were arrested during the raids.
He said two persons were caught red-handed carrying sticky bombs.
Earlier, some security sources and foreign media claimed intelligence operatives had detained 10 Chinese nationals on December 10 in Kabul, alleging the Chinese were involved in terrorist activities.
However, formal sources have said nothing in this regard.
