KABUL (Pajhwok): Two people, including a member of the provincial council, were wounded in an explosion in Khost City on Monday.

The explosion occurred in the Sahra Bagh area of the provincial capital at around 11.00am, a public representative told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Provincial Council Chairman Kafil Raihan said council member Syed Asghar Akakhel was wounded along with his bodyguard; a second bodyguard succumbed to his wounds.

Babari Gul, a private clinic doctor in Khost City, confirmed receiving two wounded individuals, including Akhakhel, and a dead body. The wounded are said to be in stable condition.

Security officials have not yet commented on the incident. No one has yet claimed responsibility for the explosion.
