KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Saturday said 120 new positive Covid-19 cases were registered in the last 24 hours nationwide.
The ministry in a statement said 1,230 people underwent tests since Saturday and the virus was detected in 120 people, pushing the overall tally to 52,706.
The source said that 43 cases were detected in Herat, 27 in Takhar, 16 in Farah, 11 in Nangarhar, 4-4 in Kabul, Kunar, 3-3 inZabul, Laghman ,2 in Baghlan, 1-1 in Kandahar, Balkh, Parwan, Nimroz, Daikundi, Samangan and Sari-pul provinces.
At least 116 individuals recovered from the pandemic during the past 24 hours, taking the recoveries to 42,291.
11 people lost their lives to the virus during the period, with the total death toll reaching 2,222.
The ministry has announced that the second wave of the pandemic has begun in the country and people should follow the virus preventive guidelines.
