KABUL (Pajhwok): The Supreme Court has awarded the death penalty to the man who allegedly masterminded the Kabul University attack.
The Interior Ministry confirmed late on Friday that the apex court had sentenced Mohammad Adil to death for planning and executing the attack.
Twenty-two people had been killed and more than 40 others wounded in the attack on the university in early November 2020.
In a statement, the Supreme Court said that five of Adil’s accomplices had been awarded various jail terms on charges of treason, smuggling of explosives and aiding the Islamic State.
All students killed in the assault, which was followed by a six-hour gunbattle between the security personnel and the attackers, were aged between 20 and 26 years.
