PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan has scrapped 200,000 computerised national identity cards (CNICs) fraudulently issued to Afghan citizens.
The Afghans were issued the Pakistani ID cards on the basis of bogus documents, including fake birth certificates, the interior minister said.
Sheikh Rashid Ahmed told reporters in Rawalpindi on Saturday that Pakistan had the data of 1.5 million Afghan refugees.
About 800,000 Afghan refugees were living in the country illegally, the minister said, without giving details.
