Police, ulema liaison to help improve security: Andarabi

KABUL (Pajhwok): Interior Minister Masoud Andarabi Wednesday launched a program aimed at improving liaison between police, religious scholars and people at the HazratZakaria Mosque in Kabul.

The purpose of the program that involves ulema and Hajj and Religious Affairs Ministry officials is to strengthen liaison between police and people.

Andarabi stressed increased coordination among people and police and termed the role of ulema as vital in bringing down crimes.

He termed mosques a place for ideological and moral training and pledged that relationship between police and ulema would be strengthened and their fruitful insight would greatly help in improving the situation.

Andarabi also held separate meeting with officials and assistance secretaries of the ministry regarding reforms implementation and fighting corruption.

The minister said besides supporting victim families of police disabled policemen should also be given priority.

He said every official irrespective of grade and rank would be dismissed if found guilty of corruption and misuse of authority.
