KABUL (Pajhwok): The Wolesi Jirga on Wednesday renewed its emphasis on referral of Kabul City Mayor to the Attorney General Office (AGO) and invalidation of his signature.
The Lower House said continuation of work by four acting ministers and Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) head was against the law, asking the government to introduce new faces for trust vote to replace the acting ministers.
Speaker Mir Rahman Rahmani said: “We are about to celebrate the 17th anniversary of the approval of our constitution but unfortunately our constitution is frequently violated by the government.”
He said continuation of work by four ministers and DAB head, who had been rejected by the Wolesi Jirga, was a clear violation of the constitution and terribly harmed transparency and democratic norms.
He asked the government to introduce new nominees for the Ministry of Information and Cultural Affairs, Ministry of Women Affairs, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development and DAB.
The house also debated continuation of Kabul Mayor Dawod Sultanzoy’s work.
Speaker Rahmani said: “Wolesi Jirga resolution regarding Sultanzoy is still in place effectively and the Justice Commission is tasked to investigate the issue.”
The Wolesi Jigra had earlier passed a resolution to refer Sultanzoy to the AGO and termed his signature annulled after he did not appear before the house.
