CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): The Salang Highway that links Kabul with northern provinces was closed for cargo vehicles on Saturday due to icy and slippery condition of the road, an official said.
SamiullahWalizada , <a href="https://pajhwok.com/en/salang-pass">Salang Pass</a>’s maintenance in-charge, said without cargo vehicles, other vehicles could travel on the highway in compliance with traffic regulations.
According to the Department of Preservation and Maintenance, a 45-km portion of the 108km long highway has icy condition and the temperature in Salang is minus 19 degrees Celsius.
