TALOQAN (Pajwhok): Four Afghan soldiers and a company commander have been killed and six others wounded in a Taliban attack on a security post in Darqad district of northern Takhar province, local officials said Sunday.
A security official in Takhar who wished to go unnamed, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Taliban attacked a security post close to Darqad district center on Friday night.
The source said that Sultan Mohammad, commander of the post was killed along with four soldiers while six others wounded in the incident.
Hadi Jamal, spokesman of 217th Shahin Military Corps confirmed clash between Afghan forces and the Taliban in Darqad district of Takhar.
He said that both the Taliban and Afghan forces suffered casualties in the battle, but he did not provide exact figures.
Taliban also confirmed the clash. The group’s spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid said that a company commander named Sultan Mohammad and four soldiers were killed and four others wounded in the incident.
He said that a tank of Afghan forces was also destroyed in the attack. He confirmed the death of one Taliban insurgent in the battle.
