LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Security officials in southern Helmand province on Sunday claimed capturing 14 suspects in connection with various crimes and also rescued a child from his kidnappers.
Brig. Gen. Wali Jan Sarhadi, Helmand police chief, told a press conference that National Directorate of Security (NDS) forces had captured the suspects in connection with kidnapping, assassinations, magnetic landmines and forgery.
Two suspects who a few days ago kidnapped AhmadZia in Lashkargah city were among the detainees.
“National Directorate of Security (NDS) forces raided the area on Saturday night and rescued the child,” Sarhadi added.
Uncle of the rescued child told Pajhwok Afghan News that the kidnappers had demanded $1m in ransom.
“I thank the security personnel for rescuing my nephew, we did not have that much money,” he added. He urged relevant authorities to punish the kidnappers in line with the law.
