War against Afghan govt, people illegitimate: Egypt

KABUL (Pajhwok): Egyptian Ambassador Ahmad MahmoodEsmaelUsman has stressed the need for enhancing bilateral relations with Afghanistan and termed the ongoing violence and conflict against the people of Afghanistan and the existing system as illegitimate.

The Egyptian envoy expressed these view during a meeting with President Ashraf Ghani, the Presidential Palace said in a statement.

The envoy presented his credentials to the president which he accepted. During the meeting, President Ghani hoped for expansion in political, economic and cultural ties between the two countries.

The Egyptian envoy was pleased with the beginning of his country’s diplomatic mission in Afghanistan and said Cairo stood with the government and people of Afghanistan for durable peace and stability.

“We also want to expand relationship with Afghanistan in different areas and often condemn terrorist attacks and stress that the ongoing war against the people of Afghanistan and its government is illegitimate,” he said.
