Afghanistan records 46 new Covid-19 cases

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Saturday said 46 new positive Covid-19 cases were registered in the last 24 hours in the country.

The ministry in a statement said 1,341 people underwent tests since Saturday and the virus was detected in 46 people, pushing the overall tally to 53,981.

The source said that 11 cases were detected in Herat, nine in Sari Pul, six each in Kabul, Kandahar, Nimroz, four in Khost, two in Paktika and one each in Paktia and Panjsher provinces.

At least 31 individuals recovered from the pandemic during the period, taking the recoveries to 45,465.

Three people lost their lives to the virus during the period, with the total death toll reaching 2,339.

First emerged in China more than a year ago, the virus has now spread to at least all countries around the world, including Afghanistan, with a variant recently appearing in the United States and Britain.
