KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Four Taliban assailants were killed after they stormed a vehicles repair workshop of the National Directorate of Security (NDS) in southern Kandahar province on Saturday.
The attack began when an explosives-laden Humvee vehicle was exploded, paving the way for three more assailants laced with light and heavy weapons to enter the workshop in Daman district.
Kandahar Deputy Police Chief FaridMashal said the attackers engaged security forces in a fire-fight after forcing their way into the workshop at around 8:00am. He said the attack came to an end with the killing of all the three attackers.
He said only two security personnel were slightly injured in the attack. He said only civilians worked in the facility.
Taliban spokesperson QariYousufAhmadi, while claiming responsibility for the attack, said tens of security personnel were killed and several equipment destroyed in the early morning attack.
He said the attack was carried out in retaliation for a recent security forces operation in Arghandab district, in which some people were killed.
