LASHKARGAH/ PULI-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Three policemen have been killed and six others wounded in two separate bomb blasts in southern Helmand and northern Baghlan provinces, sources said on Saturday.
In Helmand, two policemen were killed and four others wounded when a car bomb was ploughed into a security check-post in 601 Highway Battalion area late on Friday night, said Atuallah Afghan, the provincial council chief.
A resident of the area, Jan Gul, said a Mazda type vehicle packed with bombs which were exploded against the checkpoint. The blast was so power that its sound was heard miles away, he added.
Helmand security officials declined to comment.
Separately in the capital of Baghlan province, Pul-i-Khumri, one policeman was killed and two others were wounded in a roadside bomb blast on Saturday, police spokesman Ahmad JavedBasharat told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Abdullah Malang, a spokesman for the Public Health Department, said one dead body and two injured people had been delivered at the provincial civil hospital.
He said FazalRabi; deputy intelligence chief at the police headquarters, was among the wounded.
The militants have not yet commented on the blasts.
