KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan saffron, winning three Golden Stars, has been ranked as number one in the world by the International Taste Institute.

The Institute wrote on its webpage that Afghanistan’s saffron process-related work got better and ranked No.1 among dozens of countries.

Afghanistan’s saffron is famous all over the world and has won many international awards because of its quality.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Afghanistan produced 12 metric tonnes of saffron during the ongoing year — a 10 percent surge over last year.

Saffron is cultivated in Herat, Faryab and Balkh provinces of the country.
