KABUL (Pajhwok): The Capital Zone Development Authority on Sunday announced launching construction work on a four-kilometer road in Kabul at a cost of nearly 700 million afghanis.

NajibullahShinwari, head of the Capital Zone Development Authority, said at the inauguration ceremony that work on the second lane of the road between 11th and 17th security districts of Kabul began today and would take two months to complete.

He said that the road, which is four kilometers long and 30 meters wide, connects Shah Totak area with the Kariz Mir area of Kabul city.

According to him, the project is important for reducing traffic congestion on the northern highway and would reduce the journey between 17th and 11th  districts.

The cost of the project is about 700 million afghanis to be paid from the budget of the Capital Zone Development Authority.

Officials said the project was being built by the Afghan National Development Company.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Osama Mobasher, head of the National Development Company and Mohammad YaghoubHeydari, Governor of Kabul, as well as a number of influential people and elders.
