KABUL (Pajhwok): Intelligence operatives have arrested four Taliban insurgents, including two commanders, in southern Helmand province, the spy service said on Sunday.
A statement from the National Directorate of Security (NDS) in Helmand said the militants were detained during an operation in the 601 Shahra area of Lashkargah, the provincial capital.
The detainees included two Taliban commanders, Mullah Allah Noor, son of Abdul Sattar and Mullah Ali Mohammad, son of Abdul Samad. The two commanders were arrested along with two other Taliban members, Mustafa and Sher Agha, during the operation, the statement said.
The statement claimed the men were involved in attacks in Lashkargah and other areas, which resulted in casualties.
The statement added the suspects had confessed to their crimes and their cases had been handed over to the judiciary.
The Taliban have said nothing in this regard
