PULI-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Eight people were injured when a mortar shell hit a house in Pul-i-Khumri, the capital of northern Baghlan province, overnight, an official on Wednesday.
A relative of the injured, Fida Mohammad, told Pajhwok Afghan News the mortar hit Sharafuddin’s house in Khalazi area on Tuesday night, injuring eight members of his family, including women and children.
A doctor at the Civil Hospital said they had been delivered eight injured people including two women, as many children and four men.
Security officials expressed their unawareness about the mortar strike but said Taliban suffered casualties in the area during clashes with security forces.
The provincial capital has been the scene of intense fighting between security forces and Taliban insurgents over the past one week, with both sides suffering casualties.
