KABUL (Pajhwok): Tajikistan has launched work on a new training centre for rescue workers from Central Asian countries, including Afghanistan.
Rustam Nazarzoda, the head of Tajikistan’s Emergency Committee, said the centre was part of efforts to stabilise Tajikistan’s southern region on the border with Afghanistan.
At a ceremony, Nazarzoda hoped implementation of the project would improve the skills of rescue workers and strengthen their response to natural disasters.
Located in Qaratogh Gorge, the centre is being built on an area of 28 hectares. The facility will have training, administrative and residential blocks, a canteen, a gym, a stadium and training-simulation and modular complexes.
