KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghan Civil Aviation Authority said on Saturday it was making efforts to purchase four passenger airplanes for the state-run Ariana and Bakhtar airlines this fiscal year.
Mohammad QasemWafaizada, head of the Civil Aviation Authority, told this on the day three of the government’s accountability program in Kabul.
He said preparations were underway to added two planes to Ariana and two to Bakhtar airlines fleets. However, he did not provide details in this regard.
Mohammad Naeem Salehi, a spokesman for the Afghan Civil Aviation Authority, said the four planes would be purchased as per directives of the president and he did not know the prices of the planes.
According to him, Ariana Airlines has currently three planes and Bakhtar Airlines has one.
