SHARANA (Pajhwok): Newly-appointed police chief for southeastern Paktika on Saturday vowed to recapture fallen districts from the Taliban and turn check-posts into military bases.
Police chief Colonel Lotfullah Kamran during his introductory event told reporters that serious attempts would be made to recapture fallen districts and that he would turn check posts on highway and other areas into large military centers.
Currently Taliban have been in control of three districts — Omna, Giyan and Niki of Paktika province.
The police chief said eradication of corruption, strengthening liaison with people and coordination among security organs would be his priorities.
Malik Khan, a resident of Sharana, said if security forces ensured security and maintained public relations, people were ready to continue their cooperation with security organs.
Niaz Khan, a resident of Warmomai district, told Pajhwok Afghan News that security personnel must ensure security of highways.
He said if security forces ensured highways’ security, it would be easy for them to recapture the fallen districts.
Colonel Lotfullah Kamran earlier served as security chief of south-eastern Paktia province.
