KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): The provincial council deputy head and two of his bodyguards were injured in a landmine explosion in northern Kunduz province on Tuesday.
Provincial Council chairman Mohammad Yusuf Ayoubi told Pajhwok Afghan News that the blast took place in front of Haji Miri Bath in Kunduz city.
He said his deputy Safiullah Amiri and two of his bodyguards were injured in the blast. The landmine was planted on a bicycle, he added.
Dr. NaeemMangal, the civil hospital director, said that three injured people, including the deputy head of the Provincial Council, had been delivered to the hospital.
He added the deputy provincial council chief was currently being operated on and that his health was critical.
police spokesman AnamuddinRahmani confirmed the explosion but said nothing about casualties.
There was no word of responsibility.
