KABUL (Pajhwok): The Presidential Palace National Development Department on Wednesday confirmed the palace’s menu contained 18 types of meat, but said only three types of meat was provided to workers while the rest considered for foreign guests.
Khan Aqa Rezayee, a Wolesi Jirga member, earlier published the list of 18 types of different meat provided to the Presidential Palace.
In a twitter post, Rezayee shared a document that shows the Presidential Palace has ordered 18 types of different meat worth 63.940 million afghanis and referred it to the National Procurement Authority (NPA) for approval on December 19, 2020.
On the other hand, Abdul Hadi Arghandiwal, former finance minister who was removed by the president, said that the only reason behind his removal was his opposition to procurement of the 18 types of meat.
However, Sadaqatullah Sadiq, deputy head of National Development Department of the Presidential Palace, told a news conference here that only three types of meat was served to workers of the palace.
He said the menu contained cattle, some birds, fish, chicken and other types of meat for high profile senior guests and that was provided only every other day.
On the other hand, Abdul Karim Ghafarzai, head of the procurement office of National Development Department of the Presidential Palace, rejected procurement of vegetables worth 30 million afghanis for the Administrative Office of the President.
He said only 11 million afghanis of total 23 million considered for the vegetables had been spent.
