1 killed, 4 wounded in Balkh explosion

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): An intelligence personnel was killed and four others including three of them civilians wounded in an explosion in Kaldar district of northern Balkh province on Saturday, officials said.

Adil Shah Adil, Balkh police spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the incident took place in the center of Kaldar district today noon.

He said that explosives were placed in crowded area in the district center and it killed an intelligence unit soldier and wounded another of his colleague.

He said that three civilians were also injured in the incident. The wounded were taken to Hairatan Township hospital for treatment, he added.

No groups have so far claimed responsibility for the incident.
