FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): Five illegal armed individuals including a commander were killed and three others wounded in a clash between two rival groups in Shahr-e-Buzurg district of north-eastern Badakhshan province, police said on Saturday.
Sanaullah Rohani, provincial police spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident occurred late Friday night when gunmen loyal to two illegal commanders Sibghatullah and Najibullah clashed in Abganda locality of the district.
He added five individuals on both sides were killed and three others were wounded in the clash.
Rohani claimed that commander Najibullah was among those killed. He added the clash ended after police arrived in the area and members of both gangs escaped.
He said police were present in the area and had started a manhunt for the perpetrators.
