KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on Saturday said 98 Afghan prisoners released from Saudi prisons have been brought home on a special flight.
The MoFA in a statement the returning Afghans had been arrested in various areas of Saudi Arabia over visa expiration charges.
These Afghans had been detained in various jails and were brought to Afghanistan on a free flight as a result of efforts of the Afghan Consulate General in Jeddah city.
It is worth mentioning that previously 349 Afghan prisoners were released and returned to Afghanistan around three weeks ago.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said from August last year, 2164 prisoners have been released from Saudi prisons and returned to Afghanistan without charges as a result of efforts of the Afghan Consulate General in Jeddah.
The statement added that the Afghan government was thankful to the cooperation of the Saudi Kingdom in this regard.
