JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen shot dead an appellant court in eastern Nangarhar province on Wednesday, a day after two suicide bombers were identified and killed by security forces.
Police spokesman Fareed Khan told Pajhwok Afghan News unknown armed men shot dead an individual in Chaparhar Ada area in the limits of 2nd police district of Jalalabad, the provincial capital, at around 8:00am today morning.
He said it was not immediately known who the slain person was. He said the attackers fled the area after the attack.
But a credible source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told Pajhwok that the slain individual was a judge of the Nangarhar appellant court. The source identified the victim as Hafizullah.
GulzadaSangar, a spokesman for the civil hospital, confirmed receiving Hafizullah’s body.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the incident.
Elsewhere in the province, two suicide bombers were gunned down before reaching their goal in the Nazyan district.
Governor ZiaulHaqAmarkhel said the two bombers were killed in Landi area of the district on Tuesday evening. He said the attackers wanted to target public uprising members.
The Taliban have not yet commented in this regard.
