KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Construction work on a water reservoir and a retaining wall has been launched in southeastern Khost province.
Eng. Zainullah Nasimi, director of Khost Shamal Khurram sub-basin, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the two projects would cost 51 million afghanis and would take eight months to complete.
The dam project would bring under irrigation about 3,000 acres of agriculture land, he said, assuring quality work which would be evaluated every week through laboratory.
“The length of the canal is 175 meters and width 30 meters. When a 25 meter cubic work is done, it will be stopped and tested, if the work is going well, it would be allowed otherwise it would be reconstructed,” he added.
Erfan, a resident of the area, said the projects would irrigate lands which remained barren for years.
Amir Mohammad, a farmer, urged the officials concerned to complete the project with good quality. He said the projects would benefit many future generations if executed in good quality.
