PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan has evinced a keen interest in setting up a campus of COMSATS University in southern Afghanistan.
Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry, addressing the Second Youth Entrepreneurs’ Conference in Islamabad, signaled Pakistan’s desire to open the university campus in Kandahar.
He said Pakistan was willing to offer Afghan students admissions to almost all its universities in addition to the establishment of scientific and incubation centres across Afghanistan.
Chaudhry asked Afghan and Pakistani youth to forget bitter past experiences and work together for a better future, which could be achieved only through innovation and learning from the past.
Speaking on the occasion, Afghan Ambassador Najibullah Alikhel said: “The security and prosperity of Afghanistan and Pakistan are closely intertwined. Both countries should work together for their mutual benefits.”
Joint ventures between public and private sectors would help reinforce relations between the neighbours, the ambassador believed.
Alikhel added lasting peace was a fundamental demand and desire of all Afghans. The objective could be achieved by reducing violence and declaring a comprehensive ceasefire, he hoped.
