Wallace: UK steadfast in supporting Afghan govt

KABUL (Pajhwok): The United Kingdom has vowed to scale up its commitment to the NATO mission in Afghanistan.

The UK remained steadfast in supporting the Afghan government, British Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said on Thursday.

Addressing a two-day conference of NATO defence ministers in Brussels, he said: “The UK remains resolute in our support to the government of Afghanistan in the face of unacceptable violence.”

He said the UK would ensure that conditions were met for achieving a lasting political settlement, the only means of ensuring security from terrorism for the people of Afghanistan, Britain and its allies.
