10 MUDL officials arrested over 120m afghanis theft

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Saturday said police had arrested 10 Ministry of Urban Development and Land (MUDL) officials over corruption and embezzlement charges.

A reliable source at the ministry, who wished anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Abdul Rahman Azizi, administrative and finance director general of the MUDL was among the arrested persons.

He added the individuals were arrested by officials of the MoI serious white collar crime bureau over corruption and embezzlement of 120m afghanis.

The MoI official said they had addressed corruption issues on highways and so far has dismissed 135 highway officials and 51 officials of Kabul provincial borders.

The source added that the senior assistant security official of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has been busy with his teams in bringing further reforms.
