KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Defense (MoD) says security forces in a string of raids destroyed a heroin factory belonging to the Taliban in eastern Nangarhar province.
MoD in a statement said that Afghan National Army (ANA) had launched operations in Shirzad district of the province.
It said Toto village of Shirzad district was cleared of Taliban’s presence during the raids and Taliban’s income generating heroin factory was destroyed.
“Hundreds of Taliban insurgents suffered casualties in these raids and security personnel burned down 1,000 sacks of hashish that belonged to the Taliban,” the statement said.
