Punish youth’s killers, Jawzjan governor told

SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): The residents of northern Jawzjan province on Thursday claimed a young innocent man was killed by armed men of the provincial governor, demanding justice for the victim.

However, the governor denied security forces were involved in the murder and said those involved would be brought to justice.

The protesting residents said an 18 years old man, Inzar Gul, was shot dead by ‘armed men of Jawzjan governor’ while grazing sheep near Chaharjuft village in Shiberghan, the provincial capital, today.

They said that the armed men related to the governor were deployed in a security post in the area. The security men manning the post told Inzar Gul to give his telephone to them.

When Gul refused to give his phone, the armed men opened fire on him and shot him dead, they said.

Jumma Gul, an uncle of the victim who brought the corpse to the front of Jawzjan governor’s house, said, “There are thousands of other youths in our village, if officials do not arrest the murderer of my nephew, we all will join the Taliban and take revenge.”

“My nephew married two years ago and he was innocent, the governor of the province should tell us the reason of his murder,” he said, while crying.

The mother of the victim, who was crying over her son’s coffin, said, “They killed my son just for a mobile phone, what was his crime, his wife widowed, no one listens to our voice.”

However, Governor Mohammad Hashem Raes, while visiting the protestors said that the case would be responded and anyone involved in the incident would be brought to justice.

“Anyone who violates the law we would no longer accept him as a soldier, we will arrest and punish him regardless of his rank,” he said.

He ordered the detention of two men involved in the crime and they would be soon brought to justice.
