MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): At least eight policemen have been killed and six others wounded in a Taliban attack in northern Balkh province, an official said on Sunday.
Police spokesman Adel Shah Adel told Pajhwok Afghan News the insurgents stormed a police base in Nahr-i-Saraj district on Saturday night.
He said eight policemen were killed and six others wounded in the overnight attack.
According to Adel, the militants also suffered casualties but exact figures were not immediately available.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed at least 12 policemen were killed and one wounded in the assault.
