KABUL (Pajhwok): Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR) Abdullah Abdullah on Sunday said that Afghan politicians should not feel worried about the new US strategy the purpose of which was accelerating peace efforts
Abdullah expressed the view while addressing a gathering marking Women’s International Day.
Earlier, Zalmay Khalilzad, US Special Representative for Afghan Reconciliation Process, shared a strategy with Afghan politicians to help accelerate efforts for peace.
Abdullah said Afghan politicians should not feel worried about the new strategy, adding the purpose of new plan was to accelerate efforts for peace.
Earlier, President Ashraf Ghani during his speech to the Wolesi Jirg rejected the US peace strategy and said that he believed on the transfer of power through election.
Abdullah acknowledged that Taliban held upper hand in peace talks due to the shortcomings existed in the republic system.
He stressed that while overcoming the shortcoming of republic system all should agree to co-existence with different believes and political view in one society.
The Taliban Qatar Office also acknowledged that strategy of an interim government was shared with them by US Chief Negotiator Zalmay Khalilzad.
Taliban Spokesperson Dr. Mohammad Naeem said the strategy was being reviewed by the Taliban leaders and now decision has been yet made.
